Curriculum-Based Teaching Methods
We know that children learn best when the activities that are chosen match the child’s educational level. NHA teaching methods are based on the Creative Curriculum developed by Teaching Strategies, LLC that fully supports our philosophy and beliefs of how children learn. We know that children are naturally more motivated to learn more about topics that pique their interest and innate curiosity. From infancy through school age, carefully created programming based on the latest knowledge on how children learn is shared with each staff member who works at New Heights Academy. NHA employs the latest information software program - "KidReports" as part of our ProCare system as a parent engagement and communication portal for our teachers to keep parents informed on daily activities, reports, and so much more.
The most important feature of New Height Academy’s Infant and Toddler programs is the personal nurturing, and safe environment we offer to your children between the ages of six weeks through 24 months.
Our teachers reinforce the warmth, security and love your child is used to receiving at home. Our classroom staff supports infants and toddlers curiosity with safe places to practice new skills through exploration and discovery. These children also develop self-awareness and independence through the use of daily routines.
Three year olds are taught language and listening skills and math concepts through small group time. Our primary curriculum source for teaching language and listening skills is Creative Curriculum. Children begin to recognize their name in written form and develop social skills communicating with each other and with the teacher. Math concepts are taught through use of a variety of manipulative toys and classroom interaction. Coming together for music and songs, science, story time and poetry, these preschoolers develop confidence in being part of a group.
As they mature, two year olds are just beginning to express themselves through oral language, social relationships, creative arts, mathematical relationships, and physical skills. In addition to developing a sense of self, these children are taught self-help skills such as using the toilet and feeding themselves. NHA trained teachers develop a daily schedule and a weekly lesson plan utilizing Creative Curriculum.
FOUR's & Pre-K
Particular emphasis in the Fours and Pre-Kindergarten program is given to reading, writing and math readiness. Children participate in several group times throughout the day as they are introduced to the skills, experiences and concepts necessary to launch them into a successful school career.
